Do you mind, human? Miss Katzen is trying to sleep here.
( More adorable kitty goodness back hereCollapse )
Never mind that they wake us up all the time hehe. They hate when that pesty camera disturbs their beauty rest.

I'm looking for a new kitty, and I want one like our cat Zoe was. Here's a pic:
All I know about her was that she possibly had bengal, siamese, or snowshoe in her. She crosseyed, and was also a hemmingway polydactyl.
Can anyone help?

On Wednesday, my girl Cotton had surgery to remove several bladder stones. Since then she has been on pain medications and wearing a restraint collar, the combination of which leaves her a bit unsteady. She is getting better at negotiating with the cone, which is good since she has to wear it for 2 weeks. She also has been sporting this lovely purple number, courtesy of my best friend. She may not look thrilled, but it keeps her a bit warmer. Enjoy!

Tikit being, well, Tikit....*grin*

She loves to climb up and lay on my chest when my arms are crossed...The fact that she weighs 13.4 lbs does not deter her at all..*lol*...BTW, I had no idea about this as I was fast asleep...I didn't know until my hubby showed me the pic after I woke up....
And here's an artistic B&W pic of her:

And behind the cut is the pic in color...

Teddy Boo is easily overstimulated which can be a problem in two circumstances - when he's scared and when he's overwhelmed by people.
He gets extremely afraid and bitey at the vet so I for the past 7 years he gets 1/2 of a 10 mg acepromazine tablet about an hour before we go. The last few times this has not really done the trick and he has become increasingly been hissy and bitey. After the last visit the vet suggested that I increase the dose.
The other circumstance I use this medication is when I have a house full of company. He gets so excited he can't control himself and again ends up in trouble - nipping people, jumping into a salad bowl (no I'm not kidding), stealing food. Again, the 1/2 a pill does seem to mellow him out but certainly doesn't zonk him out completely. (This only happens 2 times a year-I've tried putting him in another room, but he howls).
I just had a really scary experience and as I reflect I believe this happened once before.
Last weekend is my annual holiday party. Teddy got his half pill as usual about 2 hours after dinner. About an hour later he jumped off the couch and could hardly walk. He staggered into the bathroom, used his box and vomited up his entire dinner. He staggered back to the couch where he snoozed most of the evening. He hardly opened his eyes. I sat next to him to make sure he was OK. Finally, about 3 hours later, he smelled some food being passed around - opened his eyes, sniffed a bit, climbed into one of my friend's lap and slept some more. He started coming around a few hours after that. He is fine now, eating and drinking and using his box normally.
I recall that I used the other 1/2 of this pill prior to his dental cleaning in October. The vet called me then and asked if I had given Teddy a 1/2 or a whole pill. When I told him it was a 1/2 he mentioned that Teddy was slow to wake up but nothing to be concerned about.
I called the vet today, we verified that I have the correct meds in the correct dose and his only advice was to just give him a 1/4 pill next time Teddy has a vet appointment.
I really don't want this to happen again. Is it possible that this batch of pills wasn't made correctly? Is it possible that Teddy has become intolerant of the medication? Is there any other medication that I can give him prior to a vet visit or a really crazy-maker night at home that will keep him calm without making him so woozy or sick?
I have a feliway diffuser and it helps, but he can be a handful under the best of circumstances.

I had this foolish idea that I would dress the cats up in cute little santa suits and take a holiday picture. Here's how that went...
Unsuspecting Marco...
( More under here..Collapse )
Needless to say, I did not snap that perfect kitty holiday picture. Next year I think I will just try the au natural look. Still, the kitties got treats after so they weren't too miffed, and we have some adorable and funny pictures of our attempt.
